Is “High There” Changing the Way Marijuana Users Connect?

High There!

The new mobile application “High There” is changing the way we interact with other marijuana users. For many traveling is one of the most thrilling experiences in life, there is something magical about being in a new land where people think and act differently. It is a chance to expand the mind and be immersed in a world different from anything you have ever experienced.

High-There

The only problem that comes with traveling is that if friends can’t come with you, for whatever reason, then the whole vacation loses an element, this sense of creating memories with someone. A very popular application, known as Tinder, is a dating app which allows users to meet or hook up with people in the area of the world they are visiting. Pictures, slogans and other preferences are created to find (or match) people around you at the fingertips of your intelligent phone.

This idea has been taken to a new level with the app High There. It is an app like Tinder, but with one very important difference, High There is designed to find other cannabis friendly people in your area, we can almost call it a weed app. Since the legalization of marijuana in the United States got its start in Colorado, it makes sense that this is where such an app would be born.

From the moment two people meet and head out on a date, it is time to get to know the most basic of information about one another. This is usually stuff like each other’s birthdays, fondness for pets, hobbies, if they have kids, want kids, what they do for a living, all of the basic information which lets one person know if they want to pursue a second date with that person. Even in the states where weed is legal, either medically or recreationally, exploring the topic of using marijuana is not usually brought up on a first date. There are several reasons for this, one is the stigma that still surrounds the use of marijuana, even as it gains popularity. Another is that people fear the reaction of another that they will be shunned or chided.

With the High There app, this is no such worries. Everyone on the app is a marijuana or a medical marijuana user. Simply using marijuana is not enough to make a love connection, so the app allows users to put in some information about their habits. They can select how they use marijuana; smoking, eating or vaporizing for example. Users can also select the energy level they have when using marijuana. Some get energized by smoking weed and want to hike, bike, climb, explore or just hookup. Others just want to hang out on the couch and watch a movie. All of these nuances play into whether two people who smoke pot are compatible.

Some people may worry about High There getting shut down by government regulations, but the creators of the app have planned for this. The app is only available to people who live in states where marijuana is either legal or allowed medicinally. This ensures that High There will stay up and running for the long haul. As more states decriminalize cannabis, High There will be adjusting its availability to make the app available to more and more users.
